Hey lovelies! 💛✨
It’s the first month of the year. AhhHhHAhsdfl! I cannot believe it has been an entire year since I launched Typed Truths. I definitely didn’t achieve all I wanted to with but I definitely feel like that was justified. We all thought 2018 couldn’t be any worse than 2017 but well, she sure as hell gave us her best damn try. At least, it was a memorable one?? … but I won’t get into that right now. I’ll leave the reflection until my 2019 Goals post tomorrow !! but for now, let’s talk about the books I want to start the year off reading.
Book Club & Readathons:
There is so much happening this month, I can barely wrap my head around it! I am so thankful for the amazing, creative minds in the bookish community who put together all these events and clubs for the rest of us to participate in. They are always the highlight of my month and are going to push me outside of my comfort zone – in a good way! – this year.
If you’re looking to join in, the links below will take you to the relevant announcements pages for dates, chapter breakdowns, or general info.
- Dragons & Tea Book Club // The Wicker King • If you somehow missed the memo and aren’t already joining in, Melanie @ Mel to the Any and Amy @ A Court of Crowns and Quills have created their own book club. The first botm is one of my all-time favourites so I couldn’t have thought of a better way to start the New Year.
- Catch Up on Classics // A Study in Scarlet + A Study in Charlotte • Melanie is also hosting readalongs throughout the year with Dani @ Book Geek’s Uncompromised to catch up on classics. I’m so happy they’re starting the year with Sherlock!
- The YA Circle • My irl book club is reading The Disasters which our host has not stopped raving about since they got an arc. I am genuinely so excited for this!
January is also Late-a-thon! It’s a monthlong readathon hosted by Destiny @ Howling Libraries all about getting up to date with your overdue review copies. However, I am twisting the prompt a little because I don’t have any overdue review copies (yet! lol) and instead, I hope to use this month to catch up on ‘overdue’ books on my physical tbr. You know the kind: the books I have owned for years but for some reason or another have still not read. This is going to tie into a yearlong personal goal I have, which I’ll talk more about on Saturday. Keep an eye out for that post!
But anyway, my priorities for the month:
As always, I have no idea how many new releases I can actually get to, but I’ll pretend that these will happen. I have definitely preordered In An Absent Dream and so that’ll be my priority.
Let’s Chat 📚✨
What are your reading goals for January? Are you participating in Lateathon? Which goals are you trying to achieve straight off the bat??
